Popular Bank Chief Operating Officer Manuel Chinea has been named Chairman of the Hispanic Federation Board of Directors. The announcement made on Thursday, July 9, 2020 follows his election during the board’s quarterly meeting.

Chinea has been instrumental in helping the federation strengthen its 30-year partnership with Popular Bank and other institutions. Prior to his appointment, he chaired the board’s Development Committee and has been an active member of the Executive Committee.

“The Hispanic Federation stands at the forefront of efforts to empower and advance the Latinx community,” said Manuel Chinea. “I am very proud of being part of its Board of Directors for the past four years and, as chairman, I look forward to continuing to support the organization’s vision and amazing work in the areas of education, health, civic engagement and economic empowerment, among others.”

For more than two decades, Chinea has been an active member of several marketing, credit, treasury management and not-for-profit organizations. In addition to his work with Hispanic Federation, he is a board member of Junior Achievement of New York.

The mission of the Hispanic Federation is to empower and advance Hispanic communities.

The organization additionally advocates nationally on vital issues, including education, health, immigration, economic empowerment, civic engagement, Puerto Rico, and the environment.

“Hispanic Federation is poised like never before to fulfill its mission to empower and advance the Hispanic community, and we are proud to advance our goals under Manuel’s leadership,” said Frankie Miranda, President of Hispanic Federation. “Manuel’s financial background and commitment uplifts our community and addresses the needs of underserved communities, this is important to the continued growth our organization’s mission. We are grateful to Nathalie for her years of leadership and stewardship,” Miranda added.

Outgoing Chair Nathalie Rayes will continue serving as member of the executive committee of the Federation’s Board of Directors.
